Board games

Give your teams a tabletop game built around your needs and your budget. Together, we define the game’s framework, objectives and materials to deliver engaging, modern game mechanics.

Understanding your needs

Creating bespoke games means working closely with our clients. Together, we outline the project before production begins. Several steps go into pinning down your needs:

01
An in-depth briefing

We take the time to analyse every document you have. We factor in your constraints to define the framework of the experience: number of participants, location, duration, budget, key messages, player profiles… That way, no detail of the context escapes us.

02
A methodology tailored to you

At Arcane, we take on board what makes you different and adapt our method to your needs. We identify the resources required and assemble a crack team to answer your brief perfectly: project manager, game designer, art director, film director, developer, professional actors…

03
Full immersion in your world

We immerse ourselves in your image library to reproduce your visual identity faithfully in everything we create. With our art director, we define the look and feel of the experience so it sits consistently alongside your existing communications.

04
A scenario built together

Before production starts, we build the game scenario hand in hand with you. This co-creation guarantees a result that matches your expectations exactly, and lets us refine the game experience throughout production so your messages land properly.

How we produce your bespoke game

Producing a bespoke game involves several major stages, which follow the needs-mapping phase:

Pre-production

Pre-production covers the kick-off meeting, background research, prototyping and more… At this first stage, we analyse the material available to pin down exactly what the game’s messages should say and how they should be delivered.

Game design

Game design covers the game mechanics, the scenario and the content… Game design is a creative and, above all, technical stage. The game designer applies precise expertise to define the mechanics at play in the game (solving puzzles, communicating as a team, finding your way around a space…). Every mechanic is there for a reason: to meet your needs. At the end of this stage, we produce a document setting out exactly how the experience unfolds, including the main stages of the game, its story, its learning objectives and its gameplay mechanics.

Internal testing

Testing is an essential part of producing the game. Our team works from the game design document written by our game designer. Tests show us how well the game really works, with input from every team member, and let us adjust it accordingly.

Technical production

Once the game content is approved, we begin technical production with a range of specialists who vary from project to project (graphic designers, film directors, developers…). Our art director brings the game’s elements to life visually (logo, sets, puzzles, game booklet…). For a digital game, we bring in a developer to build the website for your activity.

Final touches

Once the game is ready to play, we review every feature to be sure it meets your needs perfectly. We then handle the purchasing and printing the game requires, all with CSR in mind. Finally, we brief our facilitation teams so your event runs in the best possible conditions and every employee enjoys a unique experience.
