How do you re-energise a sales force around its product fundamentals?

For Algeco, a leader in modular construction, Arcane Experience designed a bespoke serious game . Using the levers of gamification, we plunged every learner into an epic sci-fi world, turning a refresher on sales techniques into a genuine playful challenge that engages teams for the long run.

The brief: align product mastery with sales performance

The challenge set by the marketing department atAlgeco was a big one: how do you energise teams during a professional training offsite while embedding sharp technical knowledge?

In a competitive sector, mastering your pitch drives success. Algeco wanted an innovative training tool , one that would break with top-down presentations in favour of game-based learning and real skills growth. The aim: give sales teams a new way to train and sharpen the skills tied to customer benefits.

Our answer: an interactive, galactic simulation

For this project, our learning designers built a game design inspired by classic genre films. In this interactive scenario, the competition takes the shape of a galactic “Big Bad” . To defeat it, players must master their strategic “weapons”: sales methods.

The concept

A simulation built around 6 learning modules, each echoing one of the brand’s products.

Picto Augmenter

The playful approach

To vary the ways people learn, we built in TV game show mechanics (think “Family Fortunes”) to challenge teams on product benefits.

Picto prendre soin

Role play

A role-play module devoted to the intergalacticelevator pitch had players write and perform live their own pitches.

The collaborative climax

This game-based learning programme ends with a final cooperative challenge. All 80 players sang a collective anthem, creating real team unity across the group.

The benefits: motivation, cohesion and lasting skills

This game-based training tackles serious content with the kind of interactivity that wins over learners :

Memory retention

Scenarios and metaphors make it easier to remember the pillars of selling: anchoring, questioning and closing.

Group dynamics

The incentive angle and the gameplay create healthy competition that boosts individual motivation.

Game experience

By taking charge of their own learning journey, sales teams put their knowledge to the test in a fully immersiveway, as if inside a virtual world built for performance.

This way of getting our sales teams working in a playful format went down really well. You cover the substance in a format that truly engages people.

FAQ: serious games and learning design

Why are serious games such an effective way to train?

A serious game is a powerful training tool, online or in the room, that puts the learner at the heart of the action. Unlike passive e-learning, this playful approach encourages experimentation. By borrowing mechanics from video games or escape rooms, you boost retention of your learning objectives.

What's the value of simulation for a sales force?

Digital simulation, or a simulation game, creates scenarios that break down psychological barriers. Whether through a simulator or virtual reality, interactivity lets people test real negotiation situations. The final debrief, led by the trainer, is then essential to consolidate what’s been learnt.

How do you bring game-based training into a company?

Modern learning solutions, whether they run on an LMS or blended learning, use digital tools and playful activities to transform how people learn. For managers, it’s an excellent way to build technical skills (accounting, customer relations) while strengthening team cohesion.
