Biotopia: the wild adventure

Overview
Raising awareness of biodiversity and the ecosystems that host countless species is now a priority for companies, bound by laws protecting the environment and its many inhabitants. Human activity has a major impact on biodiversity, and more and more companies are working to reduce their footprint and bring their employees on board with the cause. And rightly so: oxygen, food, medicine, raw materials, soil fertility and pollination all flow directly from biodiversity. Play has emerged as a powerful way to raise awareness and pass on knowledge in service of a cause that matters. Documentaries and well-meaning talks are no longer enough to mobilise your teams and make the message stick. Humans are part of biodiversity too, which makes your employees active players and guardians of a flourishing natural world. The team building experience “Biotopia: the wild adventure” strikes a chord with your employees, helping you rethink your policies and work in harmony with local land and natural heritage.
Team building that stands up for wildlife
Protecting endangered species is a major ecological, cultural and economic challenge, and better knowledge is the key to coexistence. International conservation programmes, born of close cooperation between states, set the frameworks to follow and the actions needed to meet agreed targets. But how can companies and individuals genuinely improve the state of our ecosystems? The immersive mystery “Biotopia: the wild adventure” is designed as a moving, richly told story that sparks wonder at everyday biodiversity and explains why it must be protected. By involving employees through this biodiversity awareness game, companies can act on both an individual and a collective level. This green team building addresses the environmental pillar of your CSR strategy. Fall in love with the nature around you and help fight habitat destruction, preserving and sharing your natural heritage through this biodiversity awareness game.
Follow in the footsteps of Baptiste Merle, a celebrated wildlife photojournalist, and retrace his extraordinary journey across the local landscape. Driven by his passion for biodiversity, his photography captures moments of pure wonder at the natural world. For 2 hours, you’ll explore Baptiste Merle’s pictures and the species he immortalised, his own way of making them eternal in an uncertain world. This biodiversity awareness team building helps environmental messages land, using striking images that strike a chord with your employees.
This biodiversity awareness game is built as a large-scale murder mystery. Our content draws on official databases published by leading bodies such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Players are invited to solve a mystery, uncovering clues and puzzles along the way and learning more about endangered species. Armed with a roadbook and guided by professional actors, they set out in search of the local species that shaped the photographic adventures of the famous explorer Baptiste Merle. Their notebook maps out the journey and steers their safari as they track down every shot taken by the reporter. The trail is packed with puzzles and surprises, but teams can count on team spirit to gather the clues left behind by the fearless adventurer.
Players gather outdoors, welcomed by our lead facilitator, who draws them into the world of the game. After a short introduction to the biodiversity mission, they explain the rules and split everyone into balanced teams of adventurers. Each team then receives its field kit before heading out to hunt for clues. Our seasoned explorers have 1 hour 30 to track down their mentor’s photographs of endangered wildlife and plant life, and to find him for one final challenge. Along the way, they’ll discover more about the species living close to home, the threats they face and the solutions that can protect them.
When time is up, teams hand in their reports and are assessed on how well they’ve grasped the conservation issues at stake and on the steps they took to retrace the photographer’s committed journey. The facilitator then announces a fair ranking that celebrates everyone’s involvement and closes with a full debrief, opening the floor to discussion. This game was created in partnership with the charity Noé which works to protect everyday biodiversity.
The benefits of a biodiversity awareness team building
Show your commitment and support an environmental charity
A CSR strategy calls for operational decisions and concrete action. Bringing your commitments to life through play does more than raise employee awareness of biodiversity conservation: it also supports a charity running meaningful conservation projects in France. For every person taking part in this team building activity, €3 is donated to the charity Noé. The awareness session uses gamification to convey your CSR commitments to sustainable development. The fictional scenario illustrates environmental initiatives through real, engaging situations, with no top-down lecturing. The modern, participative format lets employees interact with the messages and encourages genuine buy-in. To take things further, we can bring in an expert from Noé to share deeper insight into biodiversity conservation and suggest individual and collective solutions.
Put sharing, solidarity and understanding at the heart of your organisation
Biodiversity is to life what employees are to a company. For the two to thrive together, they need a shared project and lasting values to rally around. But mobilising your people starts with raising awareness and prompting a shift in mindset. Through a gamified approach, this environmental session helps employees understand their role, the value of their skills within the organisation's shared project and why their contribution matters to a larger collective cause. By making them active participants in their own experience, the game deepens their grasp of biodiversity issues and their support for the company's CSR policy. The group dynamic also builds a stronger sense of responsibility: players no longer act for themselves alone, but for the team.
Accelerate the green transition across your organisation, your behaviours and your supply chains
No company today can ignore the impact of human activity on the environment, yet the green transition of an organisation is no small task. For sustainable, virtuous initiatives to take root, everyone must be on board, from the leadership team to every single employee. Play becomes the seed that nurtures environmental awareness. Gamification speaks to players' sensibilities and turns their emotions into levers for personal growth and engagement. This biodiversity awareness team building opens employees' eyes to the environmental emergency so they feel personally concerned and experience the issues from the inside. Group dynamics create real synergy and a rush of fresh ideas that speed up the organisation's transformation. This awakening invites employees to rethink their priorities, question the impact of their own behaviour at work and turn that reflection into positive action.
A game designed in partnership with Noé
Created with the charity Noé, this sustainability team building opens the door to a world in flux and under serious threat. A leading voice in the protection of everyday biodiversity, Noé works daily to fight environmental degradation by raising public awareness of conservation issues. Together, we designed this team building as a powerful, accessible experience that brings people together while teaching everyday good practice.

How we bring your biodiversity awareness campaign to life
Biodiversity has been at the heart of our lives since the very first organisms appeared, yet its workings remain unfamiliar to many. It’s a layered web of interconnected ecosystems in fragile balance, and that interdependence can make the issues hard to grasp. Protecting living natural heritage is everyone’s business, and everyone has the power to act once properly informed. To get your meaningful messages across to your audience and weave biodiversity awareness into your CSR strategy, it helps to have support. Our teams start by analysing your challenges, then define with you the level of information and awareness you’re aiming for. We go through your campaign roadmap in detail before proposing a bespoke game scenario tailored to your needs and budget. As creators of immersive experiences and producers of team building events, we deliver a ready-to-play service with real meaning and CSR credentials. So how do you set off on this symbolic adventure? Here are the quests you’ll complete alongside our experts if you dare take on this CSR mission.
An idea, a project
Plant a seed of environmental awareness in your company and we’ll grow it through play. If biodiversity conservation speaks to you and you feel you have a part to play, get in touch with our advisers to develop your project. Our experts go through your brief in detail and plant your objectives, working within your constraints and your budget. After that constructive conversation, we draw up a shortlist of team building recommendations, keeping only the scenarios likely to meet your expectations. With years of experience in corporate events and hundreds of games produced, Arcane Experience is a go-to name for responsible, purpose-driven team building in France and abroad. With us, your idea grows into something original and polished that leaves a lasting impression on your teams. Our gamification expertise guarantees a carefully crafted, immersive experience that conveys your messages and makes your CSR approach easy to grasp. Working hand in hand, we adjust our recommendations as your constraints evolve. Our playful, instructive and innovative team building experiences adapt to your spaces and arrive ready to play. To round things off, you can close your gamified awareness campaign with an engaging talk delivered by our expert partner.
Producing your event
Once one of our proposals has caught your eye, our production team takes over. Your file is handed over internally and our advisers place you in the hands of a dedicated project manager, who handles all the technical and logistical aspects of your event. From that point on, your project manager is your direct contact right up to the big day. In regular touch with you, they guide you through production and check the layout of your spaces for setting up and dismantling the chosen game. They update the participant list as your numbers firm up and advise you on splitting people into teams. At this stage you have two options: build the teams yourself to mix departments, or let our facilitators draw them at random on the day. Our ready-to-play team building experiences come with no hidden catches. There are no extra costs to budget for (except damaged or lost equipment). Once everything is confirmed, you’ll receive a step-by-step schedule a few days before your event, detailing the running order of your team day. You can change the number of participants free of charge up to 7 days before. If you’d like to run this immersive mystery in a public space, we make the necessary arrangements to inform the relevant local authorities of its temporary use.
Ding dong, it's the big day
From game design to production and facilitation, Arcane Experience brings its full craft to bear on creating event games, delivering a meticulous, high-quality service. Once we’ve run through the whole programme with your contact, our teams meet you on the day at your venue. On arrival, our lead facilitator and/or project manager checks in and meets the organisers present. If the activity takes place in a public space, our team handles set-up and take-down independently and meets you at the agreed start time at the meeting point. Allow 1 hour 30 for set-up and 30 minutes for take-down, to mark out the area and lay out the game equipment. If the activity takes place in the grounds of a private estate, those spaces must be available for a 4-hour window (2 hours of play, 2 hours of set-up and take-down). When everything’s ready, we’re off! The lead facilitator, playing Baptiste Merle, the main character, welcomes the players and draws them into the world of the game. This scripted briefing sets out the rules and the objectives of the mission. Each team then receives a printed roadbook containing everything they need to begin their journey. Players are split into squads of adventurers to complete the mission. For 1 hour 30, they explore the site’s wildest corners in search of tracks and clues that will help them follow their mentor’s photographic expeditions. Depending on group size, several routes are mapped out to keep the game flowing. When the countdown ends, players wrap up their adventure by presenting their conclusions, which are assessed and ranked. The lead facilitator then runs a full debrief, revisiting the key moments of these trainee explorers’ journey, before sending everyone on their way. We collect the game equipment straight away and have a quick chat with the organisers to gauge how happy they are with the event. Then it’s back to Arcane HQ for the post-event follow-up!
Measure your impact
Once the adrenaline has settled, it’s time to measure how effective your playful awareness session has been. Arcane Experience is still by your side for that. Every job deserves its reward and every event deserves satisfaction. To find out whether you hit the mark and whether your bet paid off, our advisers have put together an exclusive satisfaction survey, tailored to each company, for accurate, qualified results. This simple, popular tool gathers hard numbers so you can measure how well your messages landed through play. But our biodiversity awareness game is only the first fruit of a long harvest that needs ongoing care. It’s now up to you to tend the CSR seed sown by the game, to shift employee behaviour for good and speed up your organisation’s green transition. To that end, Arcane Experience recommends running regular gamified training sessions and participative workshops, using play as a lever for change and an incubator of fresh ideas and positive action. And to keep improving our services, we’ll ask for your feedback too, as the event organiser. In return, we’ll give you the photos from your biodiversity event. Why biodiversity conservation matters
Biodiversity is the living fabric of the world we inhabit. It shapes our daily lives, yet what’s at stake isn’t always clear to us. The media tend to focus their awareness campaigns on endangered species, but the pressures on biodiversity run far wider and far deeper. The oxygen we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the wood that heats our homes and countless other raw materials all depend directly on biodiversity. Nature has gifted us resources that are precious and essential to living organisms, yet those resources are now dwindling and destabilising entire ecosystems. Protecting the biodiversity of natural habitats and life forms calls for individual action alongside collective commitment. The health of our world is in our hands.

Habitats at stake
The intensification of human activity in recent decades has destroyed vast numbers of natural habitats. Oceans, forests and wetlands are far more than home to thousands of animal and plant species. They play a cross-cutting role that is essential to maintaining the climate conditions life depends on. By absorbing greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere, they help curb global warming and protect biodiversity. Urban sprawl and soil sealing upend these ecosystems and contribute to the collapse of diversity across the animal and plant chain. Destroying these spaces also drives disease-carrying species into regions with no immunity, and comes hand in hand with extreme weather events.

Species diversity at stake
The diversity of species depends on the diversity of habitats. Today, species contribute directly to human survival. Pollination, soil fertility, medicines: all rely on species that are vulnerable to ecosystem loss. Some endangered species are now protected by conservation programmes and benefit from priority action. But these threats bear down just as much, if not more, on everyday biodiversity. Poaching, overfishing, pollution and other consequences of human activity all erode biodiversity and upend the animal food chain. These pressures endanger human health, with famine, armed conflict and migration flows among the consequences.

Economic stakes
The global economy rests largely on the riches biodiversity provides. Put simply, without biodiversity there would be no energy, no raw materials and no agriculture. Every foundation of our society draws on these natural resources. Studies analysing the value of nature’s services confirm that biodiversity underpins our economic systems, and make a compelling case for its role in the present and future wellbeing of humankind. Consumers and companies alike are increasingly aware of their carbon footprint and are moving towards responsible, sustainable use of natural resources. As society mobilises and environmental awareness spreads, the green transition of organisations picks up speed.
